Algarve
The Algarve
The Algarve has been attracting British tourists for decades. Whether it’s the golf; the warm year-round weather; the laid back way of life; the spectacular beaches or the fabulous fresh seafood, wine and port, it is established as a firm favourite destination for the well heeled of Northern Europe. As a place for an overseas home the Algarve is hard to top. Rather than attempting to appeal to all and sundry, the Portuguese property market seems custom-made for the more discerning, conscientious and mature property investor. The region is immensely popular with retirees, second home owners and attracts tourist all year round. Unlike Spain and other Mediterranean markets there is very little over-development and this has ensured the quality of projects is very high. With 30 golf courses in the region and a great climate it is little wonder that millions of Brits and Irish choose this as their annual holiday destination.
Lagos
A small coastal city steeped in maritime history, Lagos is a wonderful place. Home to numerous amazing beaches, wonderful holiday properties, countless international restaurants and a vibrant social life it caters well for the high end tourist market that visits the city year after year. Most of the local 30,000 population are employed in the tourist and service industries and having spent many holidays there I can personally vouch for the level of dedicated service you can expect to encounter from locals who are always happy to help with a smile on their faces. Cultural and historical festivals take place throughout the year boosting the city’s national and international profile. It is 80km from the regional capital and the airport at Faro and the drive takes approximately 50 minutes.
